A "Born This Way Foundation" leva o nome de um álbum de sucesso de Gaga, que tem atuado como porta-voz de pessoas que ela considera não terem espaço na mídia. A cantora disse que criou a fundação para tratar de questões como autoconfiança, bem-estar, combate ao bullying e orientação aos jovens. Cynthia Germanotta, mãe da artista, será sua presidente.

Em 2011, a cantora de 25 anos foi apontada pela revista Forbes como a pessoa mais poderosa na indústria do entretenimento - superando, aliás, a apresentadora de TV Oprah, que liderou essa lista em três ocasiões nos últimos sete anos.
