Os governantes da cidade de St. Petersburg, a segunda maior e uma das mais bonitas da Rússia, votaram a favor da lei que impõe multas de até US$ 17.200 para quem promover a homossexualidade. Com isso, se torna ilegal escrever livros, publicar artigos ou simplesmente falar em público sobre ser gay, lésbica, bissexual ou transexual.A votação, que foi realizada nesta quarta-feira (29) teve 29 votos a favor, 5 contra e uma abstenção. Os governantes locais afirmam que a lei é necessária para proteger o desenvolvimento moral e espiritual dos menores de idade.
A AllOut.org, grupo que luta pelos direitos gays, organizou flash mobs na última terça-feira (28) em frente de várias embaixadas russas pelo mundo como forma de protesto.
A lei agora terá que passar pela aprovação do governador Georgy Poltavchenko. Mas, em declarações anteriores, Georgy já havia dito que a legislação tem que servir para "o bem da moral pública". Ou seja, ele deve aprovar na certa.
