Ao menos cinco pessoas morreram e 14 ficaram feridas em um tiroteio no clube LGBT Madame, na cidade mexicana de Xalapa, em 21 de maio.

Até o momento, a carnificina estava restrita à mídia mexicana. A notícia ganhou destaque em publicações internacionais após ataque à boate LGBT Pulse, no último domingo 12, em Orlando.

Uma testemunha relata que viu três homens armados entrarem no lugar - que ficava numa das mais movimentadas avenidas da cidade - e pensou que fosse a polícia, que monitorava o endereço. Pouco depois, eles começaram a atirar. Foram cerca de 10 a 20 segundos de pánico até eles cessarem e deixar um siléncio absoluto. Haviam entre 200 e 400 pessoas na boate.

Segundo versões oficiais, dentre os atiradores estão supostos membros do crime organizado e ação foi uma disputa sobre o controle de vendas de drogas e entorpecentes na região. Neste mesmo endereço teria funcionado outro clube LGBT, Sodoma, da mesma proprietária, e onde já teria ocorrido problemas com drogas, mas não dessa magnitude.

Repórteres locais, funcionários e clientes, entretanto, afirmam que o número de vítimas declarado pela Procuradoria da República foi maquiado. Teriam sido ao menos 15 mortos, segundo pessoas que estavam no local.
