Um motorista do Uber foi removido do serviço depois de ser gravado fazendo comentários homofóbicos a um casal australiano no último sábado. Lucy Thomas estava num carro em Merlbourne, na Austrália, com a namorada Chelsea Lang, quando seu motorista a chamou de “bichas” ao perceber o relacionamento.

Lucy, que é cofundadora do grupo anti-bullying Project Rockit, contou ao site “Mashable Austrália” que estava jantando com amigos quando solicitou o Uber. Ao entrar no carro, comentou que as duas estavam indo assistir a um jogo de futebol. “Ele disse: ‘Eu odeio futebol, é para um bando de viados que andam por aí tocando um ao outro’”, contou Lucy. Foi então que, quando ele parou de falar, a passageira disse a ele que entendia o jeito brincalhão que ele falava, e que aquilo não era um problema para elas. O motorista, então, perguntou se as duas estavam juntas e se tornou agressivo e ameaçador.

Preocupada, ela começou a gravar a conversa que, mais tarde, postou no Twitter. “Você vai me dar uma classificação ruim e fazer uma reclamação?”, diz o homem que ainda as expulsa do carro. Ela reclamou com o Uber que removeu o motorista do cadastro.

“A Uber não tolera qualquer forma de discriminação, e entramos em contato com o passageiro para oferecer o nosso apoio, que tomaram conhecimento deste incidente, removemos o motorista da plataforma”, disse um porta-voz da empresa ao “Mashable”. Segundo o Uber, a empresa tem uma política de tolerância zero com casos de assédio e abuso. Neste domingo ela usou o Twitter para comemorar a demissão.
