Após o atentado a uma boate LGBT em Orlando, EUA, que deixou 50 mortos e 53 feridos na madrugada de domingo, 12, o deputado federal Marco Feliciano (PSC/SP) fez uma série de declarações polêmicas em seu perfil do Twitter. Na rede social, ele disse achar “triste a tentativa de grupos LGBT de usar esta tragédia para se promover, como se a razão deste ataque fosse apenas homofobia”.

Ainda no Twitter, o deputado acusou os grupos de calarem-se em relação a outros atentados e criticou a esquerda por apoiar a Palestina. “Estes terroristas com quem a esquerda quer dialogar assassinam inocentes, tripudiam sobre seus cadáveres numa luta política insana”, concluiu.

Feliciano, que também é pastor de uma igreja neopentecostal ligada à Assembleia de Deus, é conhecido por se envolver em polêmicas com grupos LGBT. Um dos principais exemplos talvez seja o projeto da “cura gay”, de 2013, em que propôs um tratamento com o objetivo de curar a homossexualidade.

Na madrugada de domingo, 12, o americano e filho de afegãos Omar Mateen, 29 anos, abriu fogo em uma casa noturna gay de Orlando. A polícia investiga o caso como terrorismo e o FBI busca elo do autor do atentado com grupos islâmicos.

O mesmo efetuou uma postagem critica em sua rede social com a seguinte frase: "Triste a tentativa de grupos LGBT de usar esta tragédia para se promover. Como se a razão deste ataque fosse apenas homofobia", escreveu o parlamentar.

Após a postagem, o humorista Rafinha Bastos respondeu ao político, também por meio da sua rede social: "Deputado: 50 gays mortos. Não é o senhor que está aproveitando essa oportunidade pra promover o seu pensamento retrógrado?"

O ator José de Abreu também se manifestou contrário ao deputado, que respondeu chamando-lhe de "LHAMA CUSPIDORA mor".
