Representantes e religiosos de cerca de 20 igrejas de Holanda assinaram um documento nesta quarta-feira (01) condenando a prática de discriminação e violência contra os homossexuais no país. A assinatura foi realizada oficialmente na Catedral de Utrecht.

O documento consta a real posição que a igreja de Holanda tem em relação à homofobia, e afirma que todos os homossexuais precisam ser respeitados como seres humanos, “Não pensamos todos da mesma maneira sobre homossexualidade, mas estamos unidos na crença de que o ser humano foi criado à imagem de Deus e é precioso a Seus olhos. Por isso todos precisam ser tratados com respeito, de maneira pacífica e amorosa, e a violência contra homossexuais, sob qualquer forma, está fora de questão.” Afirma o documento da Catedral de Utrecht.

Elhorst afirmou que o fundamentalismo religioso atinge inclusive sacerdotes. “Na Letônia, por exemplo, um religioso teve que fugir para Londres porque era abertamente homossexual”, disse. “Ele foi ameaçado de tal forma que a situação para ele no país se tornou insustentável.”

A Holanda está na vanguarda em relação à garantia dos direitos dos LGBTs.

And religious representatives of some 20 churches in the Netherlands have signed a document Wednesday (01) condemning the practice of discrimination and violence against homosexuals in the country. The signing was officially held at the Cathedral of Utrecht.
