Há dez anos, os casais homossexuais saíam da ilegalidade na sociedade alemã: em 1º de agosto de 2001, pessoas do mesmo sexo passaram a ser reconhecidas perante a lei com igualdade de direitos dos heterossexuais.
Desde então, 23 mil uniões do tipo foram seladas na Alemanha, segundo estatísticas oficiais.
Wolfgang e Werner Duysen foram um dos primeiros pares a se registrar como casal. Depois que a lei passou a vigorar, eles tiveram que esperar duas semanas para a união --tempo que o cartório no estado de Schleswig-Holstein precisou para obter o novo software para o registro civil.
"Nós estávamos nervosos, mas a juíza de paz estava ainda mais tensa porque era a primeira vez que fazia esse tipo de união, e ela não podia usar a palavra "matrimônio". Sem querer, ela a acabou dizendo e todos tivemos de rir", lembra Wolfgang.
Embora reconhecidos legalmente, os casais do mesmo sexo ainda reclamam de discriminação. Na Alemanha, a briga continua nos campos das leis de adoção e de impostos.
