A cantora pop tuitou para seus mais de 13 milhões de seguidores: "vou me encontrar com nosso presidente. Não vou parar de lutar. Isso tem que acabar".
Um político democrata confirmou que Gaga planeja visitar um evento de Obama na próxima semana na costa oeste dos Estados Unidos, mas nenhuma reunião privada foi marcada. O político falou na condição de anonimato e não foi autorizado a falar publicamente sobre o evento.
Em vídeos, Jamey Rodemeyer descreveu como foi insultado nos corredores de sua escola e que recebeu mensagens de ódio na internet antes de cometer suicídio no domingo do lado de fora de sua casa em Williamsville, em Nova York. O vídeo faz parte do projeto "It Gets Better", cujo objetivo é dar esperança aos adolescentes LGBTs.
Em seu blog, Rodemeyer afirmava ser gay e fazia frequentes referências ao suicídio e a Lady Gaga, que costuma cantar sobre a aceitação de lésbicas, gays, bissexuais, travestis e transexuais.
Os pais de Rodemeyer disseram que o garoto havia sofrido bullying por anos, mas aparentava estar melhor desde o começo da escola há algumas semanas.
A polícia investiga se as acusações devem ser arquivadas no caso. O estado de Nova York não tem uma lei anti-bullying, mas as autoridades afirmaram que os bullies podem ser acusados de assédio.
A Casa Branca promoveu uma conferência sobre a prevenção do bullying em março para discutir o assunto, estimando que o problema afete 13 milhões de estudantes. Obama disse, na ocasião, que esperava "acabar com o mito de que o bullying era apenas um inofensivo ritual de passagem ou uma inevitável parte do crescimento. Não é".

A Democratic political Gaga confirmed that plans to visit an Obama event next week on the west coast of the United States, but no meeting has been marked private. The politician spoke on condition of anonymity and was not authorized to speak publicly about the event.
In videos, Jamey Rodemeyer described how he was insulted in the halls of his school and received hate mail on the Internet before committing suicide on Sunday outside his home in Williamsville, New York. The video is part of the project "It Gets Better", which aims to give hope to young LGBT people.
