O lobby do movimento LGBT de Salvador conseguiu promover o cancelamento de uma palestra que o deputado Jair Bolsonaro (PP-RJ) notório militante anti-gay, iria proferir no 8° Encontro Baiano de Direito Penal, marcado para os dias 14 e 15 de outubro.

O evento é promovido pela empresa Múltipla – Difusão do Conhecimento, pelo Curso Juspodium e pela Associação Brasileira de Professores de Ciências Penas (ABPCP – Bahia). A temática do encontro é "As novidades legislativas do Direito Penal e do Processo Penal: a reforma do CPP, a nova Lei de Prisões e outras questões relevantes".

Bolsonaro falaria na abertura do evento às 10h30 do dia 14, sobre o tema "Proposta de Política de Prevenção ao Homossexualismo". Ao tomar conhecimento da presença de Bolsonaro no encontro, o presidente do Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB) Marcelo Cerqueira veiculou a informação nos fóruns de entidades ligadas aos LGBTs e direitos humanos na internet, comunicou o Ministério Público do Estado e reclamou junto à direção do Juspodium.

Durante as “negociações”, o GGB chegou a propor aos organizadores do evento que substituíssem Bolsonaro por outro convidado da área do Direito e “em permanecendo ele na mesa, convidar alguém para fazer um contraponto”, sugerindo dois nomes, o do antropólogo Luiz Mott ou o deputado Jean Wyllys.
