A iniciativa conjunta do Inprotur e da Câmara de Comércio Gay Lésbico Argentina se baseia na evolução da demanda detectada no segmento.
De um total de 5 milhões de turistas que a Argentina recebeu em 2010, 900 mil pertenciam ao nicho LGBT. Os últimos dados estatísticos dão conta de que, em 2009, a chegada desse turista em terras argentinas havia crescido 21%, em comparação a 2008. Dados da consultoria Gnetwork360 revelam que o público LGBT estimado entre Argentina, Brasil, Chile e Uruguai somam 12 milhões de pessoas, de um total de 42 milhões em toda a América Latina. Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Mendoza e Córdoba lideram a lista dos destinos mais procurados por lésbicas, gays, bissexuais, travestis e transexuais.
