Apesar da preocupação da Polícia Civil com um plano de policiamento preventivo e especializado para lésbicas, gays, bissexuais, travestis e transsexuais no Carnaval, os casos de agressões com motivação de homofobia continuam ocorrendo na capital fluminense.

No dia 31 do mês passado, a travesti Melissa Freitas, eleita Princesa Gay do Carnaval de 2013 no Rio de Janeiro, foi espancada e jogada de uma passarela sobre a linha do trem em Padre Miguel, na zona oeste, depois de deixar, por volta das 2h, a quadra da Escola de Samba Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel.

Depois de conversar com dois homens de carro, Melissa foi agredida e jogada do alto da passarela da Estação de Padre Miguel na linha do trem. A vítima sofreu múltiplas fraturas, nas pernas e na bacia, e está internada no Hospital Estadual Albert Schweitzer, aguardando melhora do seu estado de saúde para ser transferida para o Instituto Nacional de Traumatologia e Ortopedia (Into). O secretário estadual de Saúde, Sérgio Côrtes, foi informado do crime e aguarda que a paciente melhore para tratar da transferência.

O caso foi denunciado nas rede sociais e está sendo tratado em uma investigação rigorosa pela Polícia Civil, que trabalha com quatro frentes de investigação: assalto, homofobia, programa com cliente ou crime passional. A chefe de Polícia Civil, delegada Martha Rocha, também foi informada do crime e está empenhada para que seja esclarecido o mais rápido possível.

O coordenador do Programa Estadual Rio Sem Homofobia, Claúdio Nascimento, disse que, independente do que Melissa sofreu, o crime tem traço de homofobia porque o "autor mostrou que a violência foi com requintes de crueldade, rejeição, ódio e deve ser repudiada".

Nascimento mostra-se indignado com a violência da ação que poderia resultar na morte da Melissa. "Com esse nível de crueldade que ela sofreu, era para estar morta. As violências ou assaltos contra gays e travestis são muito mais violentos. A finalidade do autor é exterminar a homossexualidade da face da Terra", disse.
