O Big Brother de Portugal chamou atenção ao penalizar um participante que praticou homofobia dentro da casa do programa, exibido pela TVI.

Durante uma prova de resistência, o participante Hélder comentou com algumas colegas: “Eu prefiro ser mulherengo do que ser [gay]… Com todo respeito, claro. Vocês não estão a entender.”
Nas redes sociais oficiais do Big Brother de Portugal, uma postagem feita horas antes do programa indicava que “a atitude de discriminação sexual do Hélder terá consequências”.

“Hélder, as suas ações nos últimos dias deixaram muito a desejar. No Big Brother as atitudes sexistas, homofóbicas, xenófobas e racistas são inadmissíveis, tal como na nossa sociedade”, afirmou a produção, em conversa com o participante que foi transmitida.

Na sequência, prosseguiu: “Todas essas transgressões são delitos graves que o Big Brother jamais poderá fechar os olhos. Não é por estar encerrado em uma casa que pode dizer e fazer o que bem lhe apetecer.”

“Recordo-lhe que o Hélder e todos os concorrentes estão a ser vigiados 24 horas por dia e o país inteiro está a ver-vos. Hoje, Portugal acordou extremamente revoltado com seu comentário”, continuou a produção do Big Brother de Portugal.

Por fim, foi informado que a eliminação ou não de Hélder ficaria a cargo do público: “Esperava que esta casa seja o reflexo da sociedade de uma forma positiva e não de uma forma negativa ou preconceituosa.”

A ex-promotora federal Lori Lightfoot, de 56 anos, derrotou na terça-feira (2) Toni Preckwinkle. Ela será a primeira prefeita negra e LGBT a administrar Chicago, a terceira maior cidade dos Estados Unidos. Sua posse acontecerá em 20 de maio.

Lightfoot, que jamais ocupou um cargo eletivo, recebeu 74% dos votos enquanto Preckwinkle, encarregada do condado de Cook, teve apenas 26% dos votos (dados preliminares).

Desde 1837, os eleitores de Chicaco elegeram apenas um prefeito negro e uma prefeita mulher. Outras sete mulheres negras, atualmente, são prefeitas nas principais cidades do país, como Atlanta e Nova Orleans.

Durante a campanha, Lightfoot prometeu livrar a prefeitura da corrupção e ajudar as pessoas de baixa renda e da classe trabalhadora, que foram “deixadas para trás e ignoradas” pela classe política dominante da cidade.

Ainda na noite de terça, Preckwinkle ligou para parabenizar Lightfoot por uma “campanha muito disputada”, de acordo com a Associated Press.

“Embora eu possa estar desapontada, não desanimo. Por um lado, esta é claramente uma noite histórica. Não muito tempo atrás, duas mulheres afro-americanas competindo por esse cargo teria sido impensável”, disse Preckwinkle, que atuou por 19 anos no conselho municipal.
