Mustanski aconselha que ao começar um relacionamento a pessoa não se cinja a pedir apenas um teste de HIV ao seu parceiro. "Ao invés disso, as duas pessoas num relacionamento sério e monogâmico devem receber pelo menos dois testes de HIV antes de decidirem parar de usar preservativos".
